Hey! At the moment I cant play as active as I could because of study. muahahaha like anyone was interested in that. I wanted to ask what kind of music do you usually listen to while studying? What helps you concentrate?
Better give me some albums or artists not just name of the song .
And jeah, music should not be too slow or sleepy aswell, because i intend to study during nights and I don't want to fall asleep

Thanks in advance for suggestions!

Hey Tundra,

I like giving lectures and going off topic with this kind of stuff, but for both of our sakes I am just going to answer the question.

Side note: I find that if you are going to study with music eventually the work you are going to do in 3, or 5 years will require the office space with no music. But maybe you can work around that.

Answer: I tried the album Light it up - Rev theory. Hell yeah being my fav song. But, now I am more mellow and down to earth and I don't like aggression so I go to google and typed in Live Techno Channels and studied that music.

My current obsessions are Rise Against and Bad Religion, but System of a Down are pretty good, too.

while studying........jazz. Something that doesn't have lyrics which tends to distract you, especially a chorus. Something progressional and long, not shorty and choppy. Although never was my cup of tea, classical music is good to study to, for the same reasons. Jazz and classical stimulate the mind without preoccupying it.

Worthless 3 bar MTV crap (aka what most of the forumites will suggest) are bad suggestions.

If you are unfocused try listening to classics until your mind sharpens, once your mind is relaxed it go into something like smooth trance or relax (your mind functions better while its in relaxed state, dependant on what brainwaves you mainly use in what state of mind).

I second Black Metal's opinion. Don't try studying while music with lyrics is playing. Your brain will pay too much attention to the lyrics even if you think you are not noticing them. Using jazz or classical will stimulate you without inducing sleep.

Classical music or just my metal catalogue.

Either help me study, or some jazz / blues.

I would say Classic Music is the best to concentrate, I really like Progressive Metal and that stuff but I cant can't focus while listening to that kind of music.

Anything without lyrics. Even House music and Hip Hop instrumentals.

Not always. Me, I need the background distraction to keep my mind focused on what I'm actually doing, otherwise I'm going to get distracted by everything and anything around.

Personally, I listen to whatever I feel like pulling up in iTunes at that moment. Recent groups that I've been playing a lot while working on things (not schoolwork, but stuff in general) have been Cake, Gorillaz, Metallica, Slipknot, Soundgarden, Head Phones President, and White Stripes. Yes, my tastes kind of go all over

I also have a lot of video game soundtracks that I play often; various Final Fantasy OSTs (mostly FFX and FFXIII) and Zelda have been staples for a long time. Guild Wars and Metroid Prime OSTs have been added to the mix over the past few years, and right now I've been listening to the Assassin's Creed 2 and AC: Brotherhood soundtracks a lot.
